MimoCare

The Mimocare application aims to help elderly people live at home. Every few minutes, a handful of small sensors for motion, temperature, door and seat switches provide signals to a local gateway and then up to a web server. No cameras are used, with the aim of remaining unobtrusive.  This data is processed to form an approximate summary or profile of the activity levels of the occupant, viewable on the web 24/7 by a family member or a carer. Hence this provides reassurance when everything is basically OK, plus warnings in exceptions, such as if someone has had a fall, remains in bed, has left the residence, or maybe is keeping erratic hours.

In exceptional cases, SMS messages can be sent to carers for further alerts, and their history reviewed on the website. This is configured for each individual, depending on their preferences and habits. Examples include being out of bed more than 15 minutes between midnight and 6am, or fridge left open more than 10 minutes, or front door left open for more than an hour, or still sitting in lounge chair after 1am.
